The Federal Government has directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute individuals allegedly involved in sexual assaults linked to a cultural festival in Ozoro, Delta State.
The Federal Government has ordered the arrest and prosecution of perpetrators of alleged sexual assault linked to a local festival in Ozoro community, Delta State. The directive was issued by the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, in a statement signed by the ministry’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ahmed Danbazau, on Friday in Abuja.
The action followed a viral video alleging sexual assaults during the Alue-Do Festival, known as the “Festival of Fertility” in Ozoro Kingdom, located in Isoko North Local Government Area.
The minister described the reports as disturbing and urged a thorough investigation, stating, “No cultural or traditional practice can justify or excuse sexual violence in any form.”
