Robert Mugabe’s son charged with attempted murder in South Africa

Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe has been charged with attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice following a shooting incident at his Johannesburg residence.

Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, son of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, has been charged with attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice, South African police said on Monday. Gauteng police spokesperson, Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, confirmed that Mr Mugabe and his friend would appear at Alexandra Magistrate’s Court in connection with the case.

Mr Mugabe and his ally were arrested after his gardener was shot last week at his residence in Hyde Park, Johannesburg. “They will be tried for attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice since the firearm has not been found,” Ms Nevhuhulwi said, adding, “They will be facing charges of attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice.”
