INEC declares APC candidate winner of AMAC chairmanship

INEC has declared APC’s Christopher Maikalangu winner of the AMAC chairmanship election after polling 40,295 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Christopher Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress winner of the Abuja Municipal Area Council chairmanship election.

The AMAC Collation Officer, Andrew Abue, said Maikalangu secured 40,295 votes out of 62,861 valid votes cast. The African Democratic Congress polled 12,109 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party garnered 3,398 votes. Total votes cast stood at 65,197, with 2,336 rejected votes.

“That Maikalangu of the APC, having certified the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Abue said. APC collation agent, Gambo Babale, described the process as credible, stating, “INEC has done so well.”

Party agents from ADC, APC, APGA, YPP and NNPP signed the result sheets, while observers commended the transparency of the collation exercise.
