Edo Assembly suspended its first 2026 plenary after a bullet and suspected gunshot holes were discovered, prompting a police and DSS investigation.
The first sitting of the Edo State House of Assembly for 2026 was suspended on Tuesday after a bullet and suspected gunshot holes were discovered within the Assembly complex. Lawmakers had arrived for plenary when they were alerted to the incident, prompting heightened tension at the premises.
Majority Leader Jonathan Ebamewu said security agencies had taken over the matter. “We were ready for sitting today when our attention was drawn to the fact that there was an incident within the complex,” he said, adding, “We have handed everything over to them to investigate.” Armed police officers were later seen sweeping the complex.
