Abia Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu says the Labour Party operates an open-door policy and would welcome Tinubu, Obi or any political heavyweight amid its leadership transition.
The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu, says the Labour Party is open to welcoming President Bola Tinubu, former presidential candidate Peter Obi and other political heavyweights seeking to join the party under its new leadership. Emetu spoke on Monday in Abuja during the handover to the Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee.
Responding to questions on Obi’s possible return, Emetu said, “The Labour Party is a party for all, irrespective of who they are… Even Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, can decide… to join the Labour Party, and we will gladly accept him.” He dismissed Julius Abure’s planned appeal, saying, “The only court Abure can take his appeal to now is the volleyball court.”
