Fatima Buhari, daughter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has alleged that her father’s signature was forged on official documents while he was in office. She made the disclosure in From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, a biography written by Charles Omole, where she recounted reviewing documents bearing fake signatures attributed to the former president.
A forensic auditor, Fatima said she personally examined the documents and showed her father examples of forged signatures. According to the book, similar concerns had also been raised by others during Buhari’s administration. She, however, noted that such acts were not unique to her father’s tenure, adding that previous administrations had experienced similar challenges.
The book also cited instances where Buhari’s speeches and directives were allegedly altered after approval. “The text in his hands was not the speech he had approved,” the author wrote, recalling a US trip.
It further revealed that Buhari believed his residence was bugged and sometimes communicated with Fatima in writing due to security concerns.
