Nigeria immigration service announces new passport application charges starting Sept 1

The Federal Government has increased Nigerian passport fees to N100,000 and N200,000 effective September 1, 2025, while diaspora rates remain unchanged.

The Federal Government has approved an upward review of Nigerian passport application fees, effective September 1, 2025.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) spokesman, A.S. Akinlabi. According to him, the increment is intended to “ensure the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport” as the revised rates take effect.

Under the new pricing, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost N100,000, while a 64-page passport with ten-year validity is set at N200,000. However, the statement clarified that application fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page booklet and $230 for the 64-page version.

“The review which only affect Passport Application fees made in Nigeria, now set a new fee thresholds,” Akinlabi said.

The Service reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining accessibility while balancing quality service delivery.
