The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has unveiled an ambitious roadmap aimed at transforming the country’s payment ecosystem by 2028, The Nation report.
Speaking at the launch of the Payments System Vision 2028 (PSV 2028) in Abuja, CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso said the apex bank is targeting fraud losses of less than 0.001 per cent of all transactions and financial inclusion of at least 95 per cent of Nigerian adults. He also outlined plans to reduce cash circulation outside banks, expand digital payment infrastructure and deploy 10 million QR codes nationwide.
Cardoso said the initiative would make transactions faster, safer and more accessible while supporting economic growth, poverty reduction and job creation.
