Peter Obi said Nigerians elected “thieves” to manage public resources, criticised the Tinubu administration’s fiscal policies, and issued a warning ahead of the 2027 elections.
Major opposition figure Peter Obi has said Nigerians elected “thieves” to manage national resources, declaring at his ADC presidential bid launch in Akwa Ibom that, “The only thing wrong with Nigeria is that we hire thieves to manage our resources, people who have not created wealth.” He added, “You cannot hire a thief to look after your wealth; he will definitely steal it,” and urged citizens to pray for politicians, stating, “We are the problem of Nigeria.”
Mr Obi also criticised President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the 2023 budget, alleging fiscal recklessness and lack of transparency, and warned ahead of 2027 that “Anybody who refused to count our votes in 2027, we will ‘count’ him.”
