VIDEO: ‘I’ll take you down’– Portable challenges Anthony Joshua for N1bn purse

Controversial musician Portable has challenged former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to a boxing match, demanding a N1 billion purse while declaring himself the face of Nigerian boxing

Street-pop singer Portable has intensified his foray into celebrity boxing by challenging former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to a match, provided he is paid a N1 billion fight purse. The “Zazuu” crooner made the audacious claim on Thursday during a heated public face-off ahead of his scheduled exhibition bout against content creator Carter Efe. Portable, who has previously secured victories in celebrity matches against actor Charles Okocha and singer Speed Darlington, positioned himself as the premiere figure in the local scene, asserting that no rival could snatch the “belt” from his possession.

The singer’s latest callout comes as he prepares for the “Chaos in the Ring 4” event, set to take place today, May 1, at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. Portable has already turned his exhibition career into a lucrative venture, revealing in February that he was paid N40 million just to sign the contract for the fight against Carter Efe. He also disclosed that high-profile sponsors, including businessman E-Money and producer Soso Soberekon, have promised him an additional N100 million combined and a new car should he emerge victorious.

During the pre-fight press conference, Portable’s confidence was on full display as he dismissed his current opponent to focus on the British-Nigerian heavyweight star. Declaring himself the true face of the sport in Nigeria, he maintained that his ring experience makes him a formidable force. While Anthony Joshua is currently operating at the pinnacle of professional world boxing, Portable remains undeterred by the skill gap, focusing instead on the massive commercial draw he believes a potential crossover fight would generate. “For N1 billion, I’ll take you down,” he boasted, signaling his intent to turn celebrity sparring into a billionaire’s business.
