Sowore says Abubakar Malami reached out for help over his detention as anti-graft agencies continue investigating Nasir El-Rufai.
Activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has claimed that former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami sought his help to secure release from detention, while suggesting that ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El‑Rufai may also attempt to reach out. Sowore made the remarks while reacting to the ongoing detention and investigations involving the two former officials.
El-Rufai is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and later the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission over alleged financial misconduct during his tenure as Kaduna governor, while Malami faces prosecution by the Department of State Services over alleged firearms and terrorism-related offences. Sowore urged authorities to ensure proper medical care for El-Rufai following reports he suffered a nosebleed in custody.
