Sokoto court sentences three men, including Nigerien national, to death for terrorism, arms trafficking

A Sokoto High Court has sentenced three men, including a Niger Republic national, to death by hanging over terrorism-related offences and illegal arms trafficking.

Three men just learned their fate — and it’s death by hanging. A Sokoto High Court has convicted Yusuf Muhammad alias Sallau, Jabbi Alhaji Yalle and Kabiru Muhammad, including a Niger Republic citizen, for terrorism-related offences and illegal arms trafficking, Sahara Reporters reports.

Justice Muhammad Nuraddeen Bello ruled that prosecutors proved their case beyond doubt, handing down the death sentence and ordering recovered funds forfeited to the Federal Government.

The Department of State Services had arrested the men in June 2025 during intelligence-led operations targeting arms trafficking networks.

The conviction marks another win in Nigeria’s ongoing crackdown on terrorism financing and organised cross-border crime.
