Libya’s eastern administration has banned nationals of Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia from entering its territories through any land, air or sea route, as part of a wider migration crackdown.
Libya just slammed the door on four nations. The eastern administration in Benghazi has banned citizens of Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somalia from entering its controlled territories through land borders, airports or seaports, PM News reports.
Officials framed it as part of tighter border management and migration regulation, though no specific reason was given for singling out the four countries.
There’s some breathing room though — diplomats, consular staff and professionals in healthcare and education are exempt, provided they meet approval requirements.
The move could reshape migration patterns across North Africa, with Libya remaining a key transit hub for migrants hoping to reach Europe.
