Senator, former SSG survive as Warri–Itakpe train crash kills four, injures 24

A tragic derailment along the Warri–Itakpe rail corridor has left four people dead and 24 others injured after multiple coaches of a passenger train capsized near Agbor, Delta State.

According to PM News, the accident involved the Warri–Itakpe Train Service, with four coaches overturning and another leaving the tracks. The victims included two women, a man and an infant.

A total of 482 people, including passengers, crew members and security personnel, were on board when the crash occurred. Emergency responders swiftly evacuated the injured, while one NRC staff member suffered a serious limb injury.

Among those who escaped unharmed were Senator Ede Dafinone and former Delta State SSG Patrick Ukah. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the accident.
