Nigeria’s Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has urged citizens to stand firmly behind the country’s security forces, insisting they are not enemies of the state but fellow victims of insecurity.
Speaking at The Platform on Democracy Day in Lagos, Musa said soldiers and security personnel continue to make enormous sacrifices to keep the country safe. He recalled the painful task of meeting families of fallen troops and injured personnel who lost limbs to insurgent attacks and improvised explosive devices.
According to Vanguard, the minister stressed that tackling insecurity is a shared responsibility that requires cooperation between citizens and security agencies. He appealed to Nigerians to honour, support and encourage security personnel, saying stronger public backing would help improve the nation’s security situation.
