The House of Representatives has summoned the nation’s service chiefs and National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, to appear before lawmakers over the rising wave of insecurity across the country.
According to TheCable, the resolution was passed during Tuesday’s plenary after the House adopted a motion sponsored by Sulaiman Gumi, who represents Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency of Zamfara State.
Lawmakers expressed concern over the persistent security challenges facing several parts of the country, including banditry, kidnappings and violent attacks on communities.
The green chamber said the appearance of the security chiefs and the NSA would provide an opportunity for parliament to obtain firsthand information on efforts being made to tackle the crisis and improve security nationwide.
The summons underscores growing pressure on security agencies to deliver results as concerns mount over the safety of lives and property across the country.
