Real reason we murdered Ogun broadcaster – Suspects

Ogun State Police have arrested three suspects — including a former security guard — for the brutal murder of retired OGTV broadcaster Mrs Kitan Oyesiku and her guard at her Abeokuta residence, with the principal suspect confessing the killing was meant to “teach her a lesson” over unpaid wages.

A pay dispute ended in double murder — and a chilling handwritten note left on a dead woman’s chest.

Ogun State Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni confirmed Thursday the arrest of three suspects in connection with the weekend killing of retired Ogun State Television broadcaster Mrs Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, at her Abeokuta residence.

The suspects — Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, a former security guard; Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27; and Sobu Obafunsho, 36 — were tracked down through forensic analysis of a handwritten note recovered from the scene.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, as reported by Daily Trust, that note proved decisive.

“One critical piece of evidence recovered from the scene was a handwritten note apparently left behind by the perpetrators. The note was subjected to forensic examination and analysis, which generated valuable investigative leads that significantly aided detectives,” Ojajuni explained.

The motive? Bitter wages. Philip — the principal suspect — allegedly felt underpaid during his time working for the deceased through a security company.

“The suspect stated that the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku was intended to ‘teach her a lesson,'” the commissioner revealed.

The trio first overpowered guard Adetayo, used him to gain entry, attacked Oyesiku, then killed the guard. Their presence went undetected until neighbours noticed a foul odour Sunday and alerted police.

Philip was found working as a labourer at a construction site in Ibara GRA.

A broken hammer, cutlass, plank and black pen were recovered.

One unpaid wage. Two lives gone.
