Presidency Slams Atiku on Subsidy U-Turn
Nigeria’s Presidency has hit back at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his pledge to restore fuel subsidies if elected next year. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga criticized Atiku’s “opportunistic” policy reversal, highlighting his past support for subsidy removal. Onanuga argued the plan is financially unsound, illegal under the PIA, and would undermine domestic refining capacity and fiscal stability, which has seen states receive record allocations.
