A fresh bribery allegation against Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila has sparked controversy after the Presidency dismissed claims linking him to an alleged cash-for-appointment scheme involving the PFIPC.

Gbajabiamila Bribery Row

Fresh controversy has broken out around Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, after a bribery allegation resurfaced, according to Peoples Gazette. PFIPC Director-General Adeniyi Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila paid ₦400 million through a proxy to secure his appointment and was later asked for an additional ₦200 million.

The Presidency swiftly rejected the claims, describing the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council as a fictitious agency. Officials said security agencies had already investigated alleged forgery linked to Adeyemi, casting doubt on the credibility of his allegations.

However, Peoples Gazette reported that budget records showed allocations tied to the agency, complicating the government’s claim that it does not exist. The publication also noted that Adeyemi and two associates are currently facing criminal charges, including forgery and fraudulent account opening.

Their case has been adjourned, with the next court appearance scheduled for July 27, as the controversy over the alleged bribery scheme continues to unfold.
