EFCC Witness Clears Emefiele
A key prosecution witness in the trial of former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele has told the court there is no evidence he benefited from the $6.23 million allegedly stolen from the CBN, according to PM News.
Commissioner of Police Okpoziakpo Eloho made the disclosure during cross-examination at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja on Thursday. Eloho said Emefiele denied authorising the release of the funds when questioned at Kuje Correctional Centre in December 2023, adding that Emefiele disputed the signature on the approval documents and denied receiving the alleged letter from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Investigators found no evidence linking Emefiele to any benefit from the funds.
