Gbajabiamila scandal: Accused ‘DG’ breaks silence from hiding

Adeniyi Adeyemi, accused of forging appointment letters and posing as head of a non-existent presidential agency, has spoken to Premium Times from hiding, denying wrongdoing and claiming his life is under threat.

I’m underground, my life is under threat — Adeyemi

According to Premium Times, Adeyemi spoke to the newspaper on Thursday, insisting the presidency was only trying to silence him, describing the government’s actions as a “defence mechanism.” He declined to share documentary evidence of his appointment or disclose his whereabouts, citing legal advice.

The presidency has accused Adeyemi of forging letters and falsely presenting himself as Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC). Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said police charged Adeyemi and two others with eight counts, with trial scheduled for July 27.

Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila had earlier petitioned security agencies over the alleged forgery, denying any knowledge of Adeyemi or his purported council. Investigators reportedly uncovered 34 bank accounts linked to Adeyemi, though no government funds were found paid into them.
