‘Peter Obi likes food is ready politics’ — Wike

The war of words ahead of the 2027 political battle is heating up.

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has taken a fresh swipe at former presidential candidate Peter Obi, claiming the opposition figure lacks the capacity to tackle Nigeria’s complex challenges, PEOPLES GAZETTE reports.

Speaking during a media chat in Abuja, Wike argued that leadership is not about making promises but about confronting difficult situations head-on. He described Obi as someone who prefers “food is ready” politics, suggesting that the former Anambra governor avoids tough political battles and difficult decisions.

According to Wike, Nigeria’s numerous economic and governance problems require leaders with resilience, courage, and the ability to navigate adversity. He stressed that true leadership is measured by how a person handles challenges rather than by the resources available to them.

The comments came as Wike responded to Obi’s recent remarks about improving Nigeria’s power generation and broader governance issues. The FCT minister also used the opportunity to criticize opposition parties, accusing them of failing to live up to their promises of political reform.
