A woman has been killed and four others injured following a head-on collision between two commercial Toyota Sienna vehicles on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, near Iyana-Iworo, in the early hours of Tuesday.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency confirmed that reckless driving by one of the vehicles triggered the crash.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that reckless driving by one of the Toyota Sienna vehicles triggered the crash, leading to a head-on collision,” LASEMA’s head of public affairs Olawale Afolabi said.
LASEMA’s Tiger Squad arrived at the scene around 8:00am, working alongside police and LASTMA officials to manage traffic and clear the wreckage. LASEMA Permanent Secretary Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu described the accident as preventable, urging motorists to avoid excessive speed and maintain lane discipline.
