Ohanaeze youths urge Atiku to run as Obi’s deputy in 2027

The Ohanaeze Youth Council has urged Atiku Abubakar to accept serving as Peter Obi’s running mate under the ADC in 2027, arguing that political zoning, national sentiment, and electoral strategy strongly favour a southern presidential candidate.

The Ohanaeze Youth Council has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to serve as Peter Obi’s running mate under the ADC for the 2027 election, insisting that Nigeria’s political rotation requires a southern presidential candidate, and that Obi is “the most competent, credible, and reliable candidate from Southern Nigeria.”

OYC President Igboayaka O. Igboayaka argued that presenting a northern candidate would be “a deliberate political suicide,” alleging a “conspiracy theory” that Atiku’s interest in the ADC ticket could aid Tinubu’s re-election. He urged Atiku to make a “national price” sacrifice by deputizing Obi, claiming an Obi–Atiku ticket would guarantee victory and warning that Nigerians would reject the ADC if it fields Atiku, stressing that “Mr Peter Obi must appear on the presidential ballot in 2027.”
