Ogbomoso teachers protest as school kidnappings spark outrage in Oyo

Teachers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State have taken to the streets demanding government intervention following the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers by armed men in the Oriire Local Government Area.

According to SaharaReporters, teachers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State have staged street protests over the abduction of pupils and colleagues by gunmen, carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs demanding urgent government action.

The protest follows an attack on LA Primary School and Community Grammar School in Ahoro-Esiele community, where armed men killed a teacher and abducted several pupils and staff members.

Two distressing videos from captivity have since emerged. A nursing mother identified as a First Baptist Church staff member tearfully appealed: “We are here, we need help from the government and the state government, both the church, First Baptist Church in Yawota and the community. We need your help so that these people will release us.”

The Oyo State Government has since mobilised the Nigerian Army, police, Amotekun Corps, and local hunters in coordinated rescue operations.
