Peter Obi has called on President Tinubu to resign over Nigeria’s worsening economy and insecurity, citing UK PM Keir Starmer’s resignation as an example of leadership accountability.
Peter Obi is once again calling for President Tinubu to step down — and this time, he’s using Keir Starmer as his example, according to Nairametrics.
In a Monday social media post, the NDC presidential candidate said Tinubu has failed to deliver on his 2023 campaign promises, particularly on electricity, security, and anti-corruption — and should follow Starmer’s lead by owning up to leadership failures.
Obi argued that Nigeria’s conditions have “worsened” rather than improved, citing rising insecurity, unreliable power supply, and deepening economic hardship.
He also pointed to Tinubu’s own past calls for Goodluck Jonathan’s resignation as precedent.
Tinubu’s media team has yet to respond.
