No UTME required for Education, Agriculture courses — JAMB

JAMB has announced that candidates seeking admission into Education programmes and Agriculture-related non-engineering courses will no longer be required to sit the UTME.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has exempted candidates seeking admission into Education programmes and Agriculture-related non-engineering courses from sitting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

According to Daily Post, JAMB made the announcement via its official X handle during its ongoing policy meeting on 2026 admissions.

“Candidates seeking admissions into Education Programmes and Agriculture non-Engineering Courses are now exempted from UTME,” the board wrote.

The development follows the federal government’s earlier announcement scrapping the UTME as a requirement for admission into Colleges of Education, with candidates seeking the Nigeria Certificate in Education also no longer required to sit the examination.
