Political parties planning rallies and campaign events in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State have been told to hit the brakes.
According to PM News, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, directed all parties to suspend political gatherings, rallies, campaigns and processions scheduled for Wednesday over security concerns.
The police said the decision followed intelligence reports and failed efforts to broker peace among political stakeholders in the area. Gotan noted that talks convened by the command ended in a deadlock due to what he described as the non-cooperative attitude of some parties.
The move, authorities say, is aimed at preventing a breakdown of law and order and safeguarding lives and property.
The command urged politicians, supporters and residents to comply with the directive and remain peaceful, stressing its commitment to maintaining security across the state.
