Explosions Rock Maiduguri, Residents Flee in Panic
Residents of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, were thrown into panic on Monday evening following multiple explosions across parts of the city. The blasts, suspected to have been caused by Improvised Explosive Devices allegedly planted by Boko Haram terrorists, were reported in areas including the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Monday Market Roundabout and Elkanemi.
Witnesses said the explosions occurred within a short interval, creating fear among residents who rushed to safer locations. Security agencies were said to have begun assessments of the affected areas as authorities worked to determine the extent of damage and casualties.
FG Says Tinubu’s Reforms Boosting Investor Confidence
The Federal Government has said that the economic and governance reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are beginning to produce positive results. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this during a world press conference in London ahead of the President’s official visit to the United Kingdom.
Idris stated that early indicators show improving investor confidence and increasing economic momentum. According to him, the administration’s reforms are designed to stabilise the economy and create a more attractive environment for both local and international investors.
Nigeria’s Inflation Rate Drops Slightly to 15.06%
Nigeria’s headline inflation rate declined marginally to 15.06 per cent in February 2026, according to the latest Consumer Price Index report released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
The NBS said the figure represents a slight decrease of 0.04 percentage points compared with the 15.10 per cent recorded in January. It also noted that the inflation rate was significantly lower than the 26.27 per cent recorded in February 2025.

Passengers Injured in Abuja–Kaduna Train Accident
Several passengers were injured on Monday after a train operating on the Abuja–Kaduna rail line was involved in an accident near Asham station. The Nigerian Railway Corporation confirmed the incident, attributing it to a coupling issue involving a rear locomotive and a passenger coach.
The NRC said the accident occurred around 10:30 a.m., and injured passengers were promptly taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment. The corporation added that no fatalities were recorded and investigations have commenced.
