APC Governors Escort Shettima To Submit Tinubu’s Nomination Forms
Twelve governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday accompanied Vice President Kashim Shettima to submit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nomination and expression of interest forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Governors present at the event included those of Plateau, Ogun, Niger, Kaduna, Ondo, Katsina, Borno, Cross River, Taraba, Yobe, Nasarawa and Bayelsa states.
The submission ceremony formed part of preparations for the ruling party’s presidential primary ahead of the 2027 general election.
Court Fixes Hearing In Suit Seeking To Stop Jonathan’s 2027 Presidential Bid
The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed Friday, May 8, to hear a suit seeking to stop former President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2102/2025, was filed by lawyer Johnmary Jideobi, who is asking the court to declare Jonathan constitutionally ineligible to seek the presidency again.
The case is expected to test constitutional interpretations regarding presidential tenure and eligibility.

The court found Mamman guilty of diverting about ₦33.8 billion linked to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
Senate Reverses Controversial Standing Order Amendments
The Senate on Thursday rescinded recent amendments to its Standing Orders 2026 following concerns that some provisions conflicted with the 1999 Constitution.
The reversal came days after lawmakers amended portions of the rules to restrict eligibility for principal offices to senators with at least eight years of continuous service.
Senators said the amendments could trigger constitutional disputes and unnecessary tension within the upper chamber.

Oyo Police Foil Robbery Attack, Rescue Abducted Farmer
The Oyo State Police Command says it has foiled an attempted robbery attack in Iseyin and rescued an abducted farmer in the Irawo area of the state.
Police authorities disclosed that one robbery suspect was killed while two others were arrested during the operation.
The command also confirmed the arrest of four suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of the farmer.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has formally obtained the nomination form of the Allied Peoples Movement to contest the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections.
