The Nigerian Army and Air Force have rescued Mrs Amina Abubakar, widow of late Major General Rabe Abubakar, after she was shot by bandits during a rescue operation in Katsina’s Tunga Village.
Troops of the Nigerian Army, backed by the Air Force, have rescued Mrs Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, weeks after her abduction, according to Daily Post.
A statement by Major General Samaila Uba, Director Defence Information, said the rescue followed intensified efforts by troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, who made contact with bandits at Tunga Village.
But there’s a painful catch: “the bandits shot Mrs Abubakar before abandoning her and fleeing due to the overwhelming pressure from advancing troops.”
She’s now in a military hospital, “responding to treatment.” The military says it remains “committed to ensuring her full recovery” and will keep hunting the perpetrators — in Katsina and beyond.
