Manchester United are reportedly stepping up plans to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season following the departure of Casemiro, with Atalanta midfielder Ederson said to be on the verge of joining the club. According to reports, the Brazilian is set to become United’s first signing of the 2026 summer transfer window and the first arrival under manager Michael Carrick.
The club is believed to be targeting multiple additions in midfield as part of a wider squad rebuild. To finance incoming transfers, United are reportedly prepared to generate funds through player sales and have identified several squad members who could leave during the current transfer window.
