Local women sold food to suspected Oyo kidnappers before school abduction — Senator

Fresh details have emerged on the Oyo school abduction, with Senator Abdulfatai Buhari claiming the attackers may have carried out surveillance days before the raid.

According to Daily Post, the senator said a local woman selling beans and bread recorded unusually high sales shortly before the attack, making between N10,000 and N20,000 daily instead of her usual N1,000. She reportedly did not alert community leaders, believing business had simply improved.

Buhari said it was later suspected that the unusual customers were members of the kidnapping gang studying the area before striking Yawota and Esiele communities in Oriire Local Government Area.

He added that the gunmen abducted students and teachers, shot one teacher who tried to escape and injured a motorcyclist they mistook for a pursuer.

The senator urged communities to report suspicious activities quickly to help prevent similar attacks.
