Survivors say hundreds were killed and many abducted as terrorists unleashed coordinated attacks on Woro community in Kwara State, leaving residents displaced and demanding urgent government intervention.
Survivors of the deadly terrorist attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have recounted how assailants stormed the village in large numbers, executing residents and setting homes ablaze.
ZulQharnain Musa, media aide to the council chairman, said the attack began around 5 pm, adding, “They surrounded the village and began moving from one household to another… carrying out executions.” He disclosed that a helicopter hovered briefly but left without intervening as killings continued.
Residents said the violence lasted into the early hours, with bodies recovered from homes, bushes and farmlands. Abdulrasheed Taofiq, a 30-year-old resident, said, “There was no way to get out or escape,” estimating over 300 deaths.
Aliyu Jogodo, 22, said, “They killed many of my friends,” while Ruqqoyat Solihudeen alleged the attackers “disguised themselves as soldiers.” Survivors said the violence lasted until about 2am, with many abducted, including children.
Survivors said women and children were abducted, communities deserted, and economic activities crippled, urging the government to reclaim forests, rescue captives and provide humanitarian relief.
