A kidnapped family — including a pregnant woman, her children and a sibling — was reportedly released in Igboho, Oyo State, following a stern two-hour ultimatum issued by the Yoruba activist to suspected Fulani community leaders, per Punch.
Videos circulating on social media showed large crowds of residents singing, dancing and celebrating the family’s return.
The release came after Igboho had earlier confronted community representatives and traditional leaders, furious over alleged killings and abductions in the area. He referenced a ransom negotiation that reportedly turned deadly: “The person who brought the ransom, you still killed him and spared only one person.”
He didn’t mince words about what would happen next. “I am Sunday Igboho. I am calm because my fathers asked me to be calm with you. Let this be the last time such a thing will happen,” he warned, stressing he had shown restraint only because of appeals from traditional rulers.
He also threatened decisive action, including entering suspected hideouts, if compliance failed.
The exact circumstances surrounding the family’s release remain unclear at the time of filing. But for the people of Igboho, tonight, that detail can wait — they’re celebrating.
