Gunmen launched a deadly ambush on police officers returning from duty in Anambra State, killing two officers on the spot in yet another attack on security personnel.
The incident occurred along the Amansea–Ndiora–Ndiukwuenu–Awa–Ufuma Road in Orumba South Local Government Area.
According to PUNCH, the officers were travelling back from an assignment when they were attacked by heavily armed assailants. The sudden assault left two policemen dead, while security agencies immediately began efforts to track down those responsible.
The attack has heightened concerns over insecurity in parts of the South-East, where security operatives have repeatedly come under attack. Authorities have yet to announce any arrests, but investigations and manhunt operations are reportedly ongoing.
