Nigeria’s governors are pushing for a fresh review of workers’ pay, urging President Bola Tinubu to consider raising the national minimum wage from N70,000 to N100,000.
According to THISDAY, the call came from the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, during a meeting with the president in Lagos. He argued that soaring inflation, rising living costs, and growing financial pressure on workers make a wage increase necessary.
AbdulRazaq also praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, describing it as a bold move despite fears it could trigger nationwide unrest. The governors believe improved state revenues could support a higher wage structure.
