Ethiopia Prisoner Deal Aligns with Renewed Hope Agenda
Nigeria’s Federal Government has confirmed its Transfer of Sentenced Persons Agreement with Ethiopia, aimed at repatriating incarcerated Nigerians, aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Foreign Affairs Minister, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, stated the deal is a diplomatic milestone for diaspora welfare. She debunked a circulated list of 136 inmates as fake, confirming 98 individuals are subject to the agreement, held in Kaliti and Aba Samuel prisons. Concerns about poor living conditions and health challenges were cited as reasons for repatriation.
