“I just looked at the people that were involved and I shook my head, because they are just a bunch of confused individuals that exposed very junior officers who didn’t know their left from their right and now put them into this mess. It’s quite unfortunate,” he said.
Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Christopher Musa, has delivered a blunt message to anyone thinking about overthrowing the government: don’t bother.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Musa described any attempt to stage a coup in Nigeria as a complete waste of time, insisting that democracy remains far better than military rule. According to Vanguard, the minister said officers accused of plotting an alleged October 2025 coup lacked support and would have faced resistance not only from the military but also from ordinary Nigerians.
Musa labelled the alleged plotters “confused individuals” who misled junior officers into serious trouble. He also expressed sympathy for those now facing court martial proceedings, stressing that due process would take its course. The minister maintained that coups have no place in Nigeria’s democratic future.
