A Federal High Court in Kaduna has deferred ruling on former governor Nasir El-Rufai’s bail application to July 1, as he faces an 11-count corruption and money laundering charge alongside his former adviser.
Nasir El-Rufai’s wait just got longer. A Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned ruling on his bail application until July 1, Punch reports.
Justice Hauwa’u Buhari pushed the decision after hearing arguments from the defence and the ICPC. El-Rufai, alongside former adviser Jimi Lawal and several corporate entities, is facing an amended 11-count charge over alleged abuse of office, financial impropriety and money laundering — all of which they’ve denied.
The former governor also showed up at a Kaduna State High Court the same day for a separate ICPC case covering his 2015–2023 tenure.
El-Rufai maintains his actions were lawful, but the ICPC insists its probe found irregularities in fund management and contract awards.
