Colours of Fire, My Father’s Shadow lead AMVCA winners list

The 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards celebrated outstanding achievements in African entertainment, with My Father’s Shadow emerging as the biggest winner of the night.

The 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) was held on Saturday in a glamorous ceremony attended by some of Nollywood’s biggest stars and entertainment figures from across Africa. The annual event honoured outstanding achievements in film, television and digital storytelling, recognising excellence across multiple categories in the continent’s creative industry.

Among the night’s major winners were Uzor Arukwe, who won the Best Lead Actor award for his performance in Colours of Fire, and Linda Ejiofor, who claimed Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift. Bucci Franklin also secured the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in To Kill a Monkey, while actor and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji won the Best Indigenous Movie (West Africa) category for Lisabi.

The top prize of the evening went to My Father’s Shadow, which won Best Movie and emerged as one of the most celebrated productions at the ceremony. During his acceptance speech, Lateef Adedimeji dedicated his award to his wife, actress Mo Bimpe Adedimeji, as the event concluded with recognition for outstanding creativity and storytelling across the African entertainment industry.
