Festus Keyamo says Nigeria is working to launch direct cargo flights from Guangzhou in China to Enugu before the end of the year, a move aimed at speeding up trade across the South-east.
Speaking at the unveiling of two Boeing 737-800 aircraft acquired by United Nigeria Airlines, the aviation minister said traders would be able to consolidate goods and receive shipments through Enugu twice weekly.
He added that the airport is being repositioned as a regional cargo hub, backed by private investment. Keyamo also highlighted progress on Abia State’s international airport, saying runway work is advanced.
According to Premium Times, he said new aviation projects and aircraft leasing support could unlock routes, boost logistics, attract investment regionwide.
