By Prince Dotun Oyelade,
Good afternoon Dr Olarinre Salako.
I am an avid reader of your column Systems and Society but I humbly disagree with your short essay published in the back page of the Nigerian Tribune today.
The essay quoted In part..’ If the state can mobilise with such speed and precision when it chooses ( obviously referring to the Chief Bayo Adelabu’s sister kidnap), why do 46 school children and teachers from Ahoro Esinele and Yawota remain in captivity after three weeks?
No! You are wrong, sir!.
The circumstances are dissimilar. While the Ibadan scenario was more direct, urban and tractable, the Oriire incident is far more complicated with the kidnappers using our children and teachers as human shields and a split second wrong move will result in unintended mass casualties.
Whipping up emotional statements particularly from respected opinion moulders can never help matters unless Dr Salako has information that we do not possess.
