The Ogun State Government has banned graduation and end-of-session parties in all public and private schools, citing the financial burden such events place on parents.
No caps, no gowns, no parties — at least for now. The Ogun State Government has ordered all public and private schools to scrap graduation ceremonies and end-of-session parties, Premium Times reports. A circular from the Ministry of Education accused some school administrators of using such events to extort parents under the guise of celebration.
Any school caught defying the order faces sanctions, the ministry warned. The move builds on a late-2025 ban targeting nursery and kindergarten graduations, with Ogun joining states like Ekiti, Imo, Edo, Ebonyi and Benue in similar crackdowns. As the 2025/2026 academic session winds down by mid-July, schools have been told to spread the word fast — and fall in line.
