FCT Police have arrested a heavily pregnant woman who served as cook and logistics supplier for a kidnapping and banditry network operating on the outskirts of Abuja.
Not even pregnancy could stop her. The Punch reports that FCT Police arrested Hauwa Shafiu, a heavily pregnant woman who cooked and supplied logistics for a kidnapping gang and their hostages near Abuja. Commissioner Ahmed Sanusi paraded the suspects on Monday, revealing that Shafiu gave birth after her arrest and is now recuperating in a police clinic. Her baby is safe. Four others were also arrested.
Investigators say the gang embedded themselves one kilometre from the FCT boundary to coordinate attacks. Recovered items include motorcycles, tramadol tablets, phones, a POS machine and N320,000 cash — one suspect’s share from a N7 million kidnapping ransom. Police plan to demolish the gang’s hideouts.
