The war of words ahead of the 2027 elections is heating up, and this time, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga has taken aim at Peter Obi.
According to PM News Nigeria, Onanuga argued that the former Anambra State governor lacks “original and authentic thinking” and cannot be compared to President Bola Tinubu in terms of leadership, political strategy and governance.
The presidential aide dismissed Obi’s criticisms of the current administration, insisting that Tinubu remains ahead of his rivals when it comes to ideas and policy direction. He also questioned Obi’s political credentials, maintaining that the opposition figure has yet to present a compelling alternative vision for Nigeria.
The remarks are the latest in a series of exchanges between the Presidency and Obi, who has emerged as one of the leading opposition voices ahead of the next general election.
With political alliances already taking shape and public debates intensifying, the battle for the 2027 presidency appears to be gathering momentum much earlier than expected.
