APC governorship hopeful and Oyo South Senator Sharafadeen Alli has furiously denied any involvement in the kidnapping of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu’s sister, calling the allegations a politically motivated smear campaign.
The Oyo South lawmaker and APC’s 2027 governorship candidate has flatly denied any link to the June 3 abduction of Mrs Olaide Adegoke — younger sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu — and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were snatched by armed gunmen while heading to school in Ibadan’s Elewura area.
In a statement posted on his X handle and reported by Punch, Alli called the reports “false, malicious, baseless, irresponsible, defamatory, and politically motivated,” insisting no security agency had established any link between him and the crime.
The statement described the allegations as “absurd and illogical,” noting they were based purely on unverified claims from a suspect under investigation.
Notably, Alli recently defeated Adelabu in the APC governorship primaries — a fact his camp says explains the timing of the smear.
The victims were rescued unharmed on Saturday, June 6.
