Police rescue Adelabu’s sister, twin sons in Ibadan raid

Police operatives have rescued the sister of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and her twin sons in Ibadan after a gun battle that left two suspected kidnappers dead.

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Mrs. Busayo John-Paul, the 43-year-old younger sister of former Minister of Power and APC governorship aspirant Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her twin sons in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to The Nation , the victims were freed alive during a late-night rescue operation carried out around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6. The operation followed sustained intelligence gathering and tactical tracking of the kidnappers.

Police sources disclosed that two suspected kidnappers were neutralised during a fierce gun duel with security operatives, while two firearms were recovered from the gang. The rescue was said to have been achieved after mounting pressure forced the suspects into a confrontation with law enforcement officers.

The successful operation has sparked relief among residents and the victims’ family, with authorities describing it as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping. Security operatives have since launched a manhunt for other members of the gang who reportedly fled the scene. Some of the escaping suspects are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange of fire.

Investigations and follow-up operations are ongoing.
