Jihadists already at Nigeria’s borders, Fayemi warns
Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has raised concerns over the growing threat of insurgency in Nigeria, warning that jihadist groups are drawing dangerously close to the country.
Speaking on the State Affairs podcast hosted by Edmund Obilo, Fayemi said terrorists are already operating in neighbouring countries including Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso.
He stressed that the Federal Government must urgently review its security strategy and strengthen foreign relations to prevent the security crisis from worsening. According to him, terrorists are gradually moving closer to centres of power, making it imperative for authorities to act swiftly in the national interest.
Police dismiss viral list of Oyo kidnapping suspects as fake
The Nigeria Police Force has disowned a viral publication claiming to reveal suspects arrested in connection with the recent abduction in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the command described the report as false, speculative and capable of jeopardising ongoing investigations.
The police said details contained in the publication, including alleged communication records, financial transactions and identities of suspects, did not originate from any authorised security agency. Authorities maintained that investigations are still ongoing through intelligence-led operations and warned that disclosure of sensitive information could compromise efforts to apprehend those responsible.
Bode George tells Adeboye to direct security advice to Tinubu
Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olabode George, has criticised calls by Enoch Adeboye for service chiefs to resign if insecurity persists.
George argued that President Bola Tinubu, rather than military chiefs, should bear primary responsibility for national security.
The elder statesman said Adeboye’s recommendations should be directed at the President, who serves as Commander-in-Chief. He further advised Tinubu to convene a meeting of retired military officers and intelligence experts to develop fresh strategies for tackling insecurity across the country.
Atiku faults Remi Tinubu over political events amid Oyo abduction crisis
Former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over political activities taking place while abducted schoolchildren and teachers remain in captivity in Oyo State.
Atiku described the situation as insensitive, questioning the appropriateness of political celebrations during a period of national distress.
The criticism follows the inauguration of the Tinubu Torchbearers support group in Abuja and the donation of vehicles to APC women leaders. Through his aide, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the Federal Government appeared more focused on politics than the suffering of families awaiting the safe return of their loved ones.
Peter Obi claims school abductions worse under Tinubu administration
NDC presidential candidate and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has expressed concern over worsening insecurity across Nigeria.
In a statement posted on his X account, Obi claimed that more school abductions had occurred during President Tinubu’s three years in office than during the eight-year administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said the trend should alarm every Nigerian and lamented that many political leaders appear preoccupied with the 2027 elections rather than addressing insecurity, poverty and hardship. Obi urged citizens, particularly young people, to support leaders capable of delivering meaningful change.
Agbese insists signature used to endorse Ugochinyere was forged
Deputy House Spokesperson, Philip Agbese, has reiterated claims that his signature was forged on a document endorsing Ikenga Ugochinyere for the position of Minority Leader.
Agbese said the signature had originally been appended to a different document but was later used without his consent to support Ugochinyere’s leadership bid.
The controversy follows a heated exchange between both lawmakers on the floor of the House. Agbese maintained that while he had discussions with several legislators on welfare and constituency matters, he never authorised any document nominating Ugochinyere for the minority leadership position.
NDC aspirant regrets leaving APC, says party crisis worse
Edo South senatorial aspirant, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinwa, has expressed regret over leaving the All Progressives Congress for the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
Speaking on Arise News, Agbonayinwa said his move had turned from “the frying pan into hellfire.”
He alleged that despite winning the party’s senatorial primary, efforts were being made to deny him a place on the ballot. The former lawmaker further claimed that Seriake Dickson initially encouraged him to contest but later distanced himself from the process.

Court reserves ruling on Blessing CEO’s bail application
The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has reserved ruling on the bail application of social media influencer Blessing CEO.
Justice D.I. Dipeolu fixed June 9, 2026, for the decision after hearing arguments from both prosecution and defence.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is prosecuting Blessing CEO on allegations of obtaining ₦36 million by false pretence and stealing. Prosecutors allege she collected the money under the claim of securing a property lease in Lekki, Lagos, before converting the funds for personal use. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Illbliss highlights Igbo contribution to Lagos economy
Nigerian rapper Illbliss has called for greater acceptance of Nigerians living outside their states of origin.
Speaking on the Outside The Box podcast, the artiste said Igbo traders have made significant contributions to the economy of Lagos through commerce and entrepreneurship.
Illbliss argued that Lagos’ economic landscape would be markedly different without the participation of Igbo business owners. He also expressed concern over persistent ethnic and religious divisions in the country, noting that such attitudes continue to hinder national unity despite decades of coexistence among Nigerians.
