Public frustration over the abduction of dozens of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State spilled onto the streets this week as a protester openly cursed President Bola Tinubu, accusing his administration of not doing enough to secure the victims’ release.
As Peoples Gazette reports, the protest took place in Ibadan, where demonstrators gathered to demand urgent action over the fate of the hostages, who were kidnapped during an attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area. The protester drew attention to the continued captivity of the victims while referencing Seyi Tinubu’s appearance at the Ojude Oba Festival, arguing that government officials should be focused on rescuing those still being held by their captors.
The abductions have triggered widespread outrage across Oyo State, with parents, students, activists and community members calling for stronger security measures and faster intervention from authorities. Reports indicate that the attack claimed lives and left families anxiously awaiting the return of their loved ones.
Despite assurances from both the federal and state governments that efforts are underway to secure the victims’ freedom, public pressure continues to mount as the crisis drags on.
